Set up on September 1, 2006, the newest unit of Randon Companies – Castertech Fundição e Tecnologia - began to operate in 2009 and is expected to reach is break-even point in the second half of 2011. The company operated on an experimental basis in the last quarter of 2009, allocating most of its production for accreditation tests at OEMs, major consumers of Castertech`s production.

In 2010, thanks to the accreditation received, Castertech was able to begin supplies of parts to Ford and MAN, in addition to Randon itself. The company occupies a total area of 7.3 hectares and has a building area of 12,000 square meters next to Suspensys. Its initial production capacity is 30 thousand tons/year of nodular cast iron.

With an initial investment of R$ 117 million, R$ 22 million of which in environmental-protection system, Castertech has brought benefits to the community, among others: increase in tax generation, increased integration in the supply chain and in the creation of jobs (180 direct jobs).

The company`s production line is composed of five different families of products that are casted within true zeal for the environment. According to the sustainability policy of Randon Companies, which includes the major national and international certifications relating to the environment (ISO/TS 1694:2002/ISO 14001:2002 /OHSAS 18001:1999/SA 8000), the company will dispose of its solid waste in environmentally-licensed landfills and its effluents into the Effluents Treatment Station of Randon complex. Castertech received the CNI Award in 2009 in the sustainable development category.
